THE ROAD TRIP

These three books were integral to our whole road trip experience. Many of the ideas for places to go came directly out of ROAD TRIP USA and ECCENTRIC AMERICA. We would never have found unique out-of-the-way stops like like the Monument Rocks or the World Largest Ball of Twine if it hadn't been for these two books.

ROADFOOD was a book that we pulled out while on the road. We checked it often to see what good eats were along our intended route on any given day. For the most part, all their picks were right on.

These books also deserve honorable mention. Lauren and I had such high hopes to spend a lot of our nights in hostels, mingling with the other young travellers and wandering hippies. We did our best and HOSTELS USA certainly helped, but unfortunately hostels don't saturate this country quite as much as they do in Europe, so we only got to stay in two of the book's suggested hostels.

THE LOST CONTINENT was a book of pure inspiration. Bill Bryson with his sharp wit and unique outlook on the world gave us both ideas for places to go as well as a great example and model for when I finally sit down and write my own travel book.

And I have to send a big shout out to all the at Mad Libs. and I hadn't Mad Libs since we were about . I'd forgotten how they were. Especially when there are of you answers back and forth. These little helped us through the long empty stretches of when there was nothing on the radio and we were already sick of listening to the we'd packed. They caused us toout loud and made the time pass .

So on behalf of and myself, " Mad Libs!"
